Beginning with our move to Randolph in 2016, Birdhouse has provided fresh local foods to our neighbors in need. Beyond our participation in the SNAP and Virginia Fresh Match programs, Birdhouse gleans the market every week and delivers unsold fruits, vegetables, and baked goods to our partners at Second Baptist Church Food Pantry (SBCFP).
Our market vendors donate items at the end of the market day on Tuesday evenings. Market staff delivers these items to SBCFP bright and early Wednesday mornings where they are distributed later that morning.
More than 2,500 pounds of food is collected and distributed every market season to our neighbors thanks to the generosity of Birdhouse Farmers Market vendors.
