Founded in 2017 by sisters, Michelle, Shola, and Shantell, Mahogany Sweets is the physical embodiment of our family’s love for delicious food and family gatherings. In honor of fathers, the late James “Wood” Jones, Sr. and Horace Walker, who has been a woodsmith for over 30 years, we chose the name Mahogany because of its warmth, strength, beauty, and history.
Reviving the space that formally housed Nettie’s Naturally in Historic Jackson Ward, Mahogany Sweets carries on the tradition of providing gluten-free and vegan bakery items at 100 W. Clay Street but brings more of a Southern flair to old favorites. Our Head Baker brings years of experience creating desserts for those of us with food allergies and intolerance, or those who are mindful of how our diet impacts our health and well-being.
The mission of Mahogany Sweets is to provide you and your family with desserts and savories that are health conscious AND delicious at the same time. We are 100% gluten, peanut and soy-free with 90% of our menu also being vegan. We also specifically use coconut sugar to make our baked goods low-glycemic as well. We want everyone to enjoy the sweeter side of life.
